long time jazz pianist and composer, died Monday, May 7th, 2007 from complications following a stroke earlier this year. He was 75. For the past 22 years he has lived and worked, in Waldoboro Maine with his artist wife Audrey. Over the decades Bechler, a composer, teacher and bandleader, played with numerous jazz musicians. He wholeheartedly supported their efforts, whether beginners or professionals.

In his twenties, he studied art in Germany under the tutelage of Richard Kuhn, an abstract expressionist. Currently I'm trying to get back to doing art. I've set up a small studio here in Waldoboro, Maine. I will be spending my time managing my mom and dad's art, making pottery, and finishing Sculpture. As it goes, things are taking longer then I expected... Oh Well, tomorrow's another day.... Doug
