Charlie Bechler of Waldoboro, long time jazz pianist, died Monday, May 7, from complications following a stroke earlier this year. He was 75. For the past 22 years, he lived in an old cape at Back Cove with his artist wife Audrey. Over the decades Bechler, a composer, teacher and bandleader, played with numerous jazz musicians. He wholeheartedly supported their efforts, whether beginners or professionals.

Christopher Bechler:    Christopher Bechler, self-taught artist, excels in expressionistic watercolor and oil paintings, and bronze sculptures. He grew up in a family of artists on the eastern seaboard near Boston, and began painting as a child. In his twenties, he studied art in Germany under the tutelage of Richard Kuhn, an abstract expressionist. He continued his studies in Eugene, Oregon with Adam Grosowsky, expressionist, and Richard Quigley, surrealist.

Douglas Bechler:     The main idea for my portion of this site, is to document and showcase my work. Currently I'm trying to get back to doing art, in the form of pottery. I'm setting up a small studio here in Amesbury.
